Polar Oceans and Marine Ecosystems

Polar marine environments are experiencing significant environmental changes that influence ecosystems, biodiversity, climate processes, and global ocean circulation. This session explores Arctic and Antarctic ocean systems and their unique biological and physical characteristics. Discussions will cover sea-ice dynamics, polar biodiversity, marine food webs, ocean warming, changing habitats, and species adaptation. The effects of environmental change on polar fisheries, marine mammals, seabirds, plankton, and other organisms will also be considered. Advanced remote sensing and field research technologies can support monitoring in challenging polar environments. Researchers will share findings related to ecosystem resilience and climate-driven changes. The importance of international research collaboration and responsible environmental management will be emphasized. The session aims to advance scientific understanding and conservation of fragile polar marine ecosystems.
